Propane Fire Pits: Instant Fire, Zero Cleanup
A propane fire pit gives you everything a wood fire does — warmth, ambiance, a reason to stay outside — minus the smoke, ash, and 20 minutes of kindling. Turn a knob and you have fire. Turn it off and you're done.
How Propane Fire Pits Work
Every BALI OUTDOORS propane fire pit runs on a standard 20 lb propane tank (the same tank you'd use for a gas grill). A regulator and hose connect the tank to the burner. Push-button or pulse ignition lights the flame without matches. An adjustable control knob lets you set the heat level from a low ambient glow to full output.
At medium flame, a single 20 lb tank provides 8–10 hours of continuous burn. That's roughly 4–5 evenings of use before you need a refill, which costs about $15–20 at most hardware stores and gas stations.
Why Choose Propane Over Wood?
- No smoke — propane burns clean. No shifting your chair to dodge smoke, no smoky-smelling clothes.
- No ash cleanup — no shoveling, no disposal. The fire pit is ready to use again the next evening.
- No sparks — safe for wood decks, composite decking, and covered patios with proper overhead clearance.
- Instant on/off — no 20-minute warmup, no dousing embers at the end of the night.
- Adjustable heat — dial the flame up for cold nights, down for mild evenings.
Tabletop vs Full-Size Models
Tabletop fire pits are compact, portable, and designed to sit on any flat surface. They're ideal for apartment balconies, restaurant-style patio dining, and camping trips. Most use a 1 lb propane canister that lasts 2–3 hours.
Full-size fire pit tables deliver 50,000 BTU from a 20 lb tank. They seat 4–8 people depending on shape (square, rectangular, or round) and include a removable lid that turns the fire pit into a flat table when the flame is off.
Safety Features
All models include a safety shut-off valve and a flame-adjustment knob with a positive off position. The burner is recessed below the fire glass or lava rock layer, keeping the flame contained. For deck use, maintain at least 24 inches of clearance from combustible surfaces.
